Information technology in the Library

The Library of the German Bundestag uses the aDIS/BMS system, a client-server solution with Linux-based servers and Windows-based clients. The system supports all library processes and thus allows the Library to operate efficiently.

The accessible WWW-OPAC offers an advanced search interface in addition to the quick search option using a single search field, and is available on the Bundestag’s intranet and website. Publications of political or parliamentary interest which are available in electronic form are either saved by means of a stable link using a persistent identifier, or stored on the production server in the catalogue, allowing the full text to be accessed.

The aDIS/BMS library software is also used to develop and manage the Library’s electronic information services, together with a content management system. Access to publications offered solely as CD-ROMs is provided via a CD-ROM server.
