“Helmut Kohl was a stroke of luck for Germany and Europe”, said Norbert Lammert,  President of the Bundestag, on Thursday, 22 June 2017 in remembrance of long-serving Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl (CDU), who has passed away at the age of 87. “Without the momentous historical changes that are inseparably associated with his name, it would have been inconceivable that we should be honouring his memory here in the Reichstag building in Berlin, the capital of a united Germany.”
