With the rise in digital technology, Germany is experiencing one of the most dynamic periods of innovation in its history, one that on the one hand provides opportunities for greater prosperity and jobs, but which also presents new challenges in the fields of vocational and further training. The Study Commission "Vocational Training in the Digital Work Environment" established by the German Bundestag in June 2018 is tasked with analysing the developmental prospects for vocational training in the future world of work, examining the economic and social potential of modernisation and deriving specific recommendations for action for policymakers from this. The 38 members of the Commission will submit their final report by summer 2021. The Study Commission consists of 19 Members of the Bundestag and 19 experts from relevant practical fields, associations and research institutes.
