Committees

Role and responsibilities

Although people usually only talk about the ‘Family Affairs Committee’, the Committee does deal with many different issues of relevance to social policy. Its activities are aimed at strengthening families, children and young people, making it easier for parents to combine family life with the demands of work, and promoting gender equality. Against the background of the demographic changes that are occurring in society, the 38 members of the Committee are particularly committed to the continuous further development of a framework that enables elderly people to live as independently as possible and measures that encourage all generations to get involved in their communities.
