Human rights are civilisation’s most precious achievement, yet they remain under threat in many places. The Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid wishes to protect human rights, help to spread them and prevent them from being violated. We regard ourselves as a body that champions human rights. Today, human rights are part of Germany’s national ethos. The Reichstag Building bears the words ‘To the German People’, and it is indeed the German people we serve as Members of the Bundestag. However, given the universality of human rights, the committee pursues a global agenda, seeking to ensure these rights are accepted and respected all over the world. In the present electoral term, we want to continue collaborating on these issues with the parliamentary groups, public institutions, and the many organisations and individuals dedicated to the cause of human rights in Germany and internationally.
