Art, culture and the media should be independent and diverse. Artistic creativity and a well-informed public are the life blood of a democratic society. The Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs deals with cultural institutions of national significance and also provides impetus for the promotion of culture, whilst also focusing on European cultural policy and international cultural relations. In the media field, it seeks to ensure that everybody has the opportunity to keep themselves informed by means of a diverse media landscape.
