The promotion and funding of effective, sustainable parameters for elite sport – including of course sport for people with disabilities – is at the heart of the work on sports policy done by the Committee. Prominent among its concerns is the desire to put in place effective arrangements to combat doping and manipulation in sport. However, the Sports Committee also deals with the social significance of sport for other areas of life such as education, health, integration and the economy. The Committee cultivates contacts with sport associations, receives briefings from a large number of different organisations and regularly draws on the advice of external experts, all of which help it to give impetus to sport policy and initiate legislative projects.
