The library primarily serves the German Parliament. Founded in 1949, it began its work with a stock of 1000 volumes taken over from the Parliamentary Council. Today, with almost 1.5 million volumes, it has an extensive collection of specialist literature in both printed and electronic form in all fields relevant to political and parliamentary work.
