On Thursday, 24 June 2021, the Bundestag debated the final report of the Committee of Inquiry into the Breitscheidplatz terrorist attack. The Committee was established on 1 March 2018 as the first committee of inquiry in the 19th electoral term in order to look into the attack carried out on 19 December 2016 and the events surrounding it, and piece together an overall picture of the actions of the responsible government agencies. On the basis of these findings, the Committee was tasked with making recommendations on the work of the agencies listed in its mandate, as well as on how different forms of support can be provided for the victims of such attacks and the families of those killed.
