The Covid-19 pandemic brought enormous challenges for the state and society in terms of health-related, economic, social and political aspects. In order to be better prepared for the risks to health in future, the Study Commission is taking an interdisciplinary approach to the question of how risk assessment, early recognition and crisis management could be made more effective in future pandemics. Throughout this process, findings from fields of research into health care, economics, education, social aspects, politics, international cooperation and public communications are to be brought together to initiate targeted structural improvements. The Commission is to present a comprehensive final report by the end of June 2027, containing specific recommendations for improved prevention, means of combating future health risks, and resilience within society. The Study Commission consists of 14 Members of the Bundestag and 14 external experts.
